I’m still here! I’m finishing up my last full week of camps at my job as Activities/Recreation Director. Over the past 2 months, we have hosted/run 20 different camps at our facility. From soccer, volleyball, golf and basketball to drama, art, music and science…it’s been a great and busy summer!
On top of these long days…I am smack in the middle of training for the Chicago Marathon in October. Running in this Atlanta heat/humidity is no joke. As of two weekends ago, I am up to 13.1 miles in my training. On Saturday, I will get up to 15 miles, which will be the longest I have run since January.
The reality of running in these conditions is to stay hydrated and slow my pace down. If I can do that, I should be fine. I’ve hit these distances many times before, just not in these conditions. I’ll probably do a few blog posts on my longer runs to check in with my progress.
The first weekend in August, we are taking a weekend away to Disney to celebrate Rachel’s work promotion. You know we go to Disney a lot when almost 3 months have passed since we’ve been down there, and we’re itching to go again! We are excited to stay on property this time at the Caribbean Beach Resort.
Outside of that…Rachel and I have been trying to take it easy during the weekdays. We watch a lot of Netflix/HBO Go and have been catching up on quite a few new shows and movies. I, for one, am looking forward to the fall and cooler temps. It’s my favorite season of the year. Especially with college football season just over a month away!
How has your summer been?
